ANTANANARIVO
In 1610, Andrianjaka the Merina King defeated Vazimba people in Analamanga Hill (the Blue Hill), the highest among the twelve hills situated in Imerina. He built its palace and set up in Analamanga a garrison of thousand soldiers to protect the town. Antananarivo « la Cité des Milles » (City of the Thousand soldiers) was born and became the capital of Madagascar.
The town gained its own particular identity over the centuries: residences are built on the hillside, among stairs and lanes. Pretty typical houses shaded by Jacarandas stand gallantly with modern buildings.
LES 3 METIS, Antananarivo Hotel
« Les 3 Métis », a hotel with character is ideally situated in the heart of the city. It’s an outstanding traditional residence entirely restored in the pure respect of Antananarivo architecture. It reflects indubitably the city’s splendour.
The house was built in 1913 by a rich raffia exporter. It hosted the American embassy during colonial times, then the Mines Service, the Bank Union and finally the College of Physicians.
Opened in 2007, Les 3 Métis is a charming hotel which combines in a singular way the authentic welcome and the Malagasy know-how to satisfy customers. All they care about is your comfort: « whether your stay in Madagascar starts or ends with us, you will take away happy memories. »
At only 10 minutes on foot from the Independence Avenue, you can take advantage of its location whether if you travel for business or leisure or just for a short break in Antananarivo. Many points of interest are near to the hotel: banks, leisure centers, souvenir markets and shops...
